Sr. Engineer / Electrical Design Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen as  Sr. Engineer and/or Electrical Design Engineer in our After Market Support team in Bergen.  

We are looking for Engineers with electrical background to strengthen the department’s focus within power electrics for our Energy & Power systems products, Hardware and Software. You will participate in upgrade and modification projects for our customers, from idea and sales phase, through planning and execution and all the way to documentation. As Sr. Engineer and/or Electrical Design Engineer you design Drives and Battery Systems solutions to make our customers vessels even better. 

You will participate in taking ownership of how Kongsberg Maritime support our customer within the complete lifetime cycle on our products. The position will involve some travelling, approx. 10-30 days/year. 

As our Sr. Engineer and/or  Electrical Design Engineer, you will be part of the division Global Customer Support which is responsible for Kongsberg Maritimes services, upgrades, and support in the aftermarket. Energy Products, the business unit you will be supporting, provides a complete portfolio of electrification to Frequency Drives, Switchboards and Energy Storage Products for marine applications. The new Energy product range have a unique approach to energy management and integration with overall vessel control.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Design solutions for life cycle management (obsolescence, upgrades and replacements) 

  • Quotations 

  • Electrical design 

  • Software setup 

  • Attend supplier and customer meetings, equipment testing and on site installations. 

  • Support new technologies and participate in development of our product range both onsite and remote. 

 
Qualifications and experience: 

  • Bachelor or technical college degree in electro, system engineering or other relevant education 

  • Extended knowledge of either frequency converter, switchboards, power management systems, energy management systems, battery system or generator/motors  

  • Experience with Eplan  

  • Experience from service, production, or operational work within maritime industry or similar is an advantage. 

  • Electrician Certificate of apprenticeship within Energy product range (Gr.L/ ship electrician or automation) is an advantage 

  • Good written and oral communication skills in English 

  • Strong Software skills is highly recommended.  

  • “Installatør” papers, or willing to take this education is preferable.
