Cable traction control unit (CTCU)
A unique and patented CTCU technology. Our range of CTCUs are offered in five frame sizes, spanning safe working loads from 30 to 250 tonnes giving nearly 500 tonnes lift in a two-fall system.
The unique and patented CTCU technology allows the traditional steel wire rope to be replaced with synthetic fibre rope for lifting purposes. In addition to being field repairable, where worn parts of the rope can be replaced at sea, and offering easy logistics, lightweight synthetic fibre ropes maintain the lifting capacity virtually unaffected by water depth. The net lifting capacity of a steel wire rope is reduced significantly at great water depths due to the weight of the wire itself. Typically, the net lifting capacity is reduced by more than 50 per cent beyond 3000 metres. Five frame sizes of CTCU are offered, spanning safe working loads from 30 to 250 tonnes giving nearly 500 tonnes lift in a two-fall system. The CTCU also come with an integrated rope management system, clearly visualising the condition of each part of the rope so inspections and maintenance of worn parts of the rope can be planned in due time and off-hire due to rope failure or premature rope replacement is avoided.
