An exciting opportunity has arisen as Strategic Sourcing Lead for Propeller Systems & Stabilizers. We are currently looking for a Strategic Sourcing Lead who is responsible for creating and executing sourcing strategies for Propeller Systems & Stabilizers in Kongsberg Maritime Propulsion & Handling Division.

As Strategic Sourcing Lead, you will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that align with the product and business objectives of Propeller Systems & Stabilizers. You will play a key role in ensuring supplier performance, cost optimization, and alignment with program goals.

A critical aspect of the role involves working closely with Project Team to ensure sourcing decisions support budget commitments and financial performance across the project lifecycle. From new product development through to long-term supplier partnerships, you will help ensure the right commercial decisions are made to deliver successful outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sourcing: Lead the development and execution of sourcing strategies for assigned categories and products to meet business and project objectives.
  • Budget Alignment: Work closely with Project Managers and Project Buyers to ensure sourcing activities align with project budgets, timelines, and cost targets, supporting the financial success of each program.
  • Supplier Relationships & Leadership: Take ownership of selected supplier relationships, guiding strategic development, performance, and commercial alignment.
  • Contract & Commercial Management: Lead supplier negotiations and contract management activities, including value improvements, contract amendments, rebates, raw material clauses, and in-contract cost reductions.
  • Cost Management: Deliver material cost improvements through sustainable sourcing strategies, Design-to-Cost initiatives, and re-sourcing programs.
  • Project Execution: Collaborate with Product Management team and Project Teams to define requirements and ensure sourcing milestones are met according to plan.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify and manage category risks including single-source dependencies and supplier financial health.
  • Delivery & Quality Oversight: Monitor supplier performance in terms of delivery and quality; drive resolution of commercial issues impacting operations.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to company processes, customer and governmental regulations, and the company’s code of ethics.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in procurement or supply chain domain
  • Mandatory technical experience
  • Proven track record of delivering results in project-driven environments incl. castings, shafts, fabrications or hydraulics
  • Global outlook with exposure to diverse challenges, cultures, and working practices.
  • Understands Category specifics including key cost drivers and global / regional supply base.
  • Understands the Total Cost of Acquisition impact.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Project Managers to drive cost efficiency and financial performance.
  • Experience with ERP systems for purchasing and supplier management.
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Bachelor degree in finance or engineering will be an additional advantage
