Defence industry has an important role to play

“Dialogue between industry and the defence community has never been more important. To ramp up production, but also to make sure that our supply chains are robust and resilient,” said Secretary General Stoltenberg at the NATO Transatlantic Defence Industry Reception.

And I couldn’t agree more.

In recent months, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has shown an ability and willingness to invest to support allied forces though deliveries of products and services within a very short time.

These achievements were realized through strong collaboration with nations across the coalition – and a desire to make a difference in a critical situation.

NASAMS Air Defence System to Ukraine is one example. In cooperation with the US, Norway provided Ukraine with a total of four NASAMS systems in a very rapid time frame, significantly strengthening Ukraine’s ability to protect its cities and critical infrastructure from Russian missile attacks.

In addition, we are investing to upgrade production capabilities.

In Norway, we have started the expansion of production and development space in Kongsberg. The upgraded 75,000 square meters facility will be ready next year.

It is important that Allies and industry, NATO and the EU meet together and work more closely as we face a critical moment for our common security.

We are grateful for the strong partnerships and collaborative spirit shown by NATO members who helped make these deliveries possible.
