YOUNG@KDA

Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has an initiative called “YOUNG@KDA” that enables our young employees to meet and get to know each other. The purpose of this initiative is to attract and retain young employees in our company.

YOUNG@KDA was established back in 2015, and is managed by a small committee who organize social events such as cabin trips, bowling, go-karting, wind tunnel, escape room and dinners with various entertainment.

This is a popular initiative for many of our new employees, as many of them have moved to Kongsberg after their studies, and have little or no network in the area. The offer to take part in this kind of social events is therefore highly appreciated.

“Many of our employees have made friends for life, and some even their partner, through this initiative.”

Cecilia Hepworth, current leader of Young@KDA.

She also says that some of the members almost experience a heartbreak at the end of their 33rd year, which is the age limit for the participants, because Young@KDA is such a safe and fun environment to be a part of.

YOUNG@KDA aims to arrange different events every year, but particularly one annual tradition stands out; the “pinnekjøtt night” which takes place before the Christmas vacation. This is a major highlight for the members, and the places fill up quickly.

“In the future, we hope that we can make room for even more participants,” says Cecilia. “We want as many people as possible to participate in the social arena and continue to develop their network and relations.”

YOUNG@KDA: Building networks and friendships

In a period of rapid growth and increased recruitment, effective onboarding processes and networking are crucial for new employees.
