Systems Safety, novel and sustainable technology engineer

The Integration & Energy division of Kongsberg Maritime AS has an exciting open position as a System Safety engineer in our Regulatory and Integrity section. The successful candidate will report to Solution Design Business line, and will work in close collaboration with customers and relevant stakeholders within Kongsberg Maritime AS.

Our Regulatory and Integrity section is expanding as the maritime future is in a rapidly change with the development of remote controlled and autonomous vessels and the change to sustainable fuels and energy systems are increasing rapidly. You will work with the regulatory development in close cooperation with a multi-disciplinary team and in close cooperation with customers, maritime legislators and other departments in Kongsberg Maritime.

Regulatory and Integrity section supports Kongsberg Maritime with interpretation of rules and regulation with the aim to get acceptance to adopt new technologies and novel sustainable solutions for the future.

Your key accountabilities will be:

  • Responsible for the delivery of technical documentation in compliance with project plans and procedures
  • Plan and perform verification activities through project execution;
    • HAZID analyses, including risk assessment for autonomous and remote operated vessels,  alternative fuels and fuel cell installations.
    • Perform Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) analysis
    • Establish philosophies for new technologies and novel sustainable solutions for future shipping.

As part of the team, you will be involved in challenging projects where you will use state of the art risk assessment tools and technics to get approval from class and authorities of new technologies and/or applications. All in line with our strategy for sustainable thinking. 

Qualifications and experience

  • Relevant education from college or university
  • Knowledge of methods for performance of risk assessments and hazard identification and operability analyses (HAZID/HAZOP) are required.
  • Knowledge of evaluation of systems reliability such as RAM analysis is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of regulations by marine class societies and national authorities, including IMO and NMA, is an advantage but not a condition.
  • Good English written and oral skills are required, and Norwegian oral skills are an advantage.
