SW Engineer

Join the Seatex division in Kongsberg Discovery as an SW Engineer. Kongsberg Discovery is a global marine technology company providing innovative and reliable solutions. In the Seatex division, we develop world leading products for accurate positioning, beamforming radar and radio communication systems, motion measurement, satellite payloads and situational awareness for ocean space applications. What you will be working on

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an SW Engineer to join the Navigation & Positioning department at Kongsberg Discovery in Trondheim. We are looking for a proactive, solutions-driven engineer who thrives on tackling technical challenges and contributing to project-based work. As an SW Engineer, you will join an experienced product team, taking on responsibilities to further develop and maintain our Situational Awareness system. This includes software development, testing, verification, and validation. To succeed in this position, we believe you need to show initiative, work collaboratively, and have a structured and quality-focused mindset. You might occasionally join our operators and customers in the field, seeing your work in action.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain embedded Linux systems, forming the backbone of our product portfolio
  • Develop and maintain our Situational Awareness solutions
  • Ensure compatibility and seamless operation across different hardware platforms and interfaces
  • Work closely with hardware engineers, software developers, and other team members to ensure cohesive and efficient development processes
  • Plan, execute, and refine testing and validation processes
  • Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a similar field
  • Experience with software development in C and C++. Familiarity with Cuda is advantageous
  • Experience with, or interest in, Linux configuration and development. Experience with Yocto/buildroot or similar is a plus
  • Knowledge of computer networking
  • Experience with Azure/git is beneficial
  • An understanding of cyber security is advantageous
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English. Proficiency in Norwegian is preferred but not mandatory
