Product Manager, Monitoring Sonar

Join the Kongsberg Discovery as a Monitoring Sonar Product Manager. As a Monitoring Sonar Product Manager, you will contribute to the management of our Monitoring Sonar portfolio of products and their life cycle. This position will require both a technical and a business mindset. Your tasks will vary from securing market intelligence, managing the portfolio’s roadmap, and overseeing the products’ development efforts from concept through to launch. You will also act as a product subject matter expert; bridging between sales, engineering, and other stakeholder teams.
You will join the Product Management Department which consists of a dedicated group of people responsible for all Canadian-made sonar products. To succeed in this position, you need to take initiative, be collaborative, responsible, structured, and quality minded. The position requires some travel, e.g., to conferences, customer visits, and exhibitions. You might occasionally join our operators and customers in the field.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that our sonar products is developing according to our strategy and our customer operational needs
- Be the voice of the market
- Be responsible for determining key market requirements
- Engage with engineering projects to support with the commercial perspective
- Be a champion for product management and life cycle support
- Initiation, product leadership, verification, and validation of product improvements and development
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Engineering Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or equivalent
- Some business training (eg: MBA) or equivalent
- 3 years of experience or more with sonar and/or similar underwater sensor
- A motivation to develop in a combined business-strategic and technical career
- Skills to enable and encourage colleagues and customers to express their viewpoints
- Fluent in both verbal and written English. Fluency in verbal and written Norwegian is beneficial, but not a requirement
