PLM Solutions Architect

An incredible opportunity awaits you as a PLM Solutions Architect, reporting to the Propulsion & Handling (P&H) System Engineering Manager. In this role, you will drive the digitalization and integration of our Engineering IT and share your technical knowledge and interest in how PLM and Engineering IT can improve product development, delivery of design, product lifecycle management and increase engineering efficiency. You will work closely with all five P&H business units to ensure our PLM and Engineering IT is fit for purpose for today and in the future.

System Engineering focuses on integration of people, processes, business systems, and information. The team is driving for “data at the fingertips” and contributes to key topics such as safe, sustainable, multidisciplinary product development, as part of efficient and effective engineering processes and lifecycle management. Flexibility, strong drive, and self-motivation are essential qualities as you will be in a team which represents the voice of the users towards Technology and the IT organisation. Tasks will vary, leading to a diverse role, and you will also be cooperating with colleagues in other KONGSBERG Divisions and Product lines, functions and throughout the value chain as we seek common processes and a digitalized future.

Responsibilities

The role will contribute to the P&H PLM strategy and roadmap. Key responsibilities could include roll-out of PLM, development or exploration, proof of concept, and implementation of new capabilities surrounding the design, manufacture, and lifecycle management of physical and digital products in the P&H portfolio, and any technical publications/ user documentation or data. Other responsibilities could include testing, training, user support, and establishing best practice.

Training and/or individual on-boarding will be provided as required.

Qualifications and experience

  • We are looking for someone who is a quick learner, has a natural interest for new technology, and has a drive for improvement and innovation.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant technical subject or equivalent experience within the industry will be considered. Knowledge of Propulsion & Handling products, the maritime industry, or IT/ Business systems from maritime or other relevant industries will be considered.
  • PLM expertise is not necessarily required. Understanding of software applications, databases &/or IT architecture is beneficial. Previous use of Product Lifecycle Management tools like Teamcenter, 3D and 2D design tools such as NX and AutoCAD, and/or knowledge of document handling systems will be an advantage.
  • Previous experience of leading change, implementation, or project management are an advantage.

This employment may require security clearance by the Norwegian National Security Authority, clearance through Civil Aviation Authority or a background check.
