Group Manager - Mechanical Design R&D

We are looking for a Group Manager - Mechanical Design R&D to lead and develop our mechanical design group in Uncrewed Platforms. In this role, you will be part of the Uncrewed Platforms R&D Team innovating new and exciting products and maintaining the existing product portfolio.
The mechanical design group is responsible for design and development of among others pressure vessels, electronics containers, battery technology, antennas, motors, syntactic foam applications, subsea and topside infrastructure with handling systems including hydraulics.
We are looking for a candidate who have good time management skills, able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
About us:
You will be part of our Uncrewed Platforms division, dedicated to designing, creating, and building autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) and uncrewed surface vessels (USVs). Our advanced vehicles can explore depths of up to six thousand meters and operate independently for extended periods, collecting vital data about the seafloor, water conditions, and underwater objects. We specialize in integrating sophisticated sensors for data collection, maritime navigation, and communication.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of mechanical designers and draftsmen, drive a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Oversee the design, development, and testing of mechanical products from concept through production.
- Manage project timelines and resources, providing regular updates to senior management.
- Mentor team members, providing guidance on technical challenges and career development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, software, and project management to ensure cohesive product development.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes and efficiency.
Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Extensive experience in mechanical design.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and other design tools.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials selection.
