Documentation Engineer

 An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Documentation Engineer to join Kongsberg Maritime’s Global Customer Support division based in Kristinehamn. We are looking for a driven and organised individual who is passionate about technical documentation and knowledge sharing.

As Documentation Engineer you will collaborate on development of instructions and procedures and take responsibility for the documentation work for a product or procedure. You will be responsible for planning, coordination, execution, control and development of documentation for products or procedures. Documentation may include technical function descriptions, quality instructions, inspection and test plans.

 Qualifications and experience

To succeed in this role, a genuine interest in technology and/or marine products and a passion for documentation writing is essential. Experience as a Technical Communicator, education in a related field, as well as knowledge from working in an XML-based tool (preferably according to S1000D & structural / architectural level) are all highly advantageous. Additionally, we prefer that you also have previous experience in illustration work however this is not a requirement.

Kongsberg Maritime’s official business language is English therefore, a high level of written (and oral) English is necessary. Documentation in instruction is written in Simplified English and competency in this is advantageous.

 You want to make things happen and will use your initiative and drive processes systematically from start to finish, also accepting responsibility for the results. Constructive teamwork and networking are key in this position. You will need to build strong relationships with engineers, project managers and service technicians, then collaborate to produce the basis for documentation and finally, ensure all content is accurate and written in a professional manner. We expect your ability to communicate clearly and concisely will ensure high-quality results in your written documentation.
