Polar Research Vessel

Proven designs and engineering for long-range, cold weather operations

Some of the best polar-research vessels on Earth carry our equipment and feature our design. The 129m RRS Sir David Attenborough, operated by the British Antarctic Survey, is based on our UT 851 design. It has ice-breaking capability up to 1m thick, with space for up to 60 scientists onboard and up to 60 days’ endurance at sea. Our solutions for polar research vessels guarantee world-class results.

Powering performance with proven advantages:

  • Advanced dynamic positioning capabilities featuring cybersecurity protection
  • Dedicated hydrodynamic services specialising in silent operation
  • Cold weather Polar capabilities, from deck machinery equipment to thrusters
  • More than 200 vessels delivered ICE-1A and above
  • Arctic Thrusters with CPP optimisation for ice milling
