DP Vessel Maintainer Course

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After the course, the successful participant is able to:

· Understand the theory and practicaloperation of DP Systems

· Understand the component parts of the DPand associated systems to include equipment limitations and effects of failures

· Understand the effects of the incorrectoperation of systems

· Fault find within the DP System and its base components

· Understand FMEAs and the philosophy of system redundancy

· Understand work which can be undertaken with or without assistance fromequipment manufacturers, when to stop work on equipment before affection DPoperations and redundancy

· Understand Marine Technology Society’s (MTS) vessel design philosophy andfundamentals

TARGET GROUP

Engineers,ETO’s, and other non-deck department, technical personnel serving on boardDP-equipped vessels that would like to start the NI Training and CertificationScheme for Key Technical DP Personnel.

LEARNING PROCESS

The training will be a combination of theoretical lessons, demonstrations and simulation exercises.

DURATION 34 hours (5 days)

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Theminimum qualification is set at STCW Regulation III/1 - III/2 - III/3 – III/6Engine and Regulation III/6 ETOs. The training center theory part and NI exammay also be attended by relevant shore-based technical staff, DPO, andtechnical Cadets to improve their knowledge. They will issue a certificate ofcompletion (Theory only).

SPECIAL INFORMATION

The DP Vessel Maintainer Course is the first phase of the NI Training and Certification Scheme for Key Technical DP Personnel. The course does not replace OEM Specific Maintenance and Technical Training.
