Meet Emil:

Thriving as a systems engineer

As a System Engineer, Emil thrives on the variety his role offers. He enjoys the diverse challenges that come with his daily routine, where no two days are alike.

Emil’s path to his current role wasn’t exactly what he envisioned during his studies.

“I didn’t really expect to end up in my current field or have the job I have now. But I always knew it had to be something technical.”

The transition from studying to working can be overwhelming, but Emil finds it manageable.

“There’s a lot of new stuff to learn on the job, but doing the job and research is kind of like school because you have to work independently. So, it’s not that big of a transition, only in some ways.”

He finds the work environment within his team to be very supportive.

“The work environment within my team is very nice. We are very supportive of each other. I feel that I can always ask my coworkers if I’m unsure about something or if I need help. They can explain it to me in a different way if I didn’t understand it initially. So, I would say we’re very supportive of each other. We always try to help each other out.”

For those just starting out, Emil offers some valuable insights:

If you’re curious, want to learn, and like technical stuff, there’s no reason not to apply for a job at Kongsberg Maritime. It doesn’t really matter what it is, as long as you like the technical aspect, like automation. There are so many opportunities here in Kongsberg Maritime.
