Norspace, the former AME SPACE, has signed a contract for develoment of advanced SAW filters for future mobile and multimedia satellites
Norspace has started on a new R&D contract related to development and further evolution of advanced SAW filters for space applications. This new contract will focus on the design refinement as well as industrial packaging and implementation of advanced Low Loss SAW filters.
The project is partly funded over the ESA General Support and Technology Program, GSTP.
Dr. Sigmund Bardal, Director of Norspace SAW and Microcircuits Product Line, explains that these devices are candidates for multiple future space applications where size and low loss are the design drivers. As filters will be designed and implemented in the 1 to 2.5 GHz region and bandwidths from 10 to 60 MHz, they can be used as RF filters for mobile and navigation systems in the L& S band region, as well as IF filters for C, Ku and Ka band systems.
By this, and other developments within the field of high frequency high performing SAW filters Norspace is dedicated to continue as the global leader for SAW filters and advanced microelectronics for the space market.
