KONGSBERG and Fosen High School collaborate on aviation engineering education

Kongsberg Aviation Maintenance Services (‘KONGSBERG’) and Fosen High School in Trøndelag have signed a cooperation agreement covering courses and training in aviation engineering education.

Today, the school offers both VG2 and VG3 level education in aviation subjects. From the autumn of 2025, Fosen will also offer the first courses in aviation engineering subjects to KONGSBERG employees

The collaboration with Fosen meets the need to educate more aviation engineers in Norway. The agreement is important for us to be able to maintain and develop our employees’ expertise and provide the right competence at the right time to the Norwegian Air Force, said Terje Bråthen, Executive Vice President, Aerostructures and MRO at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.

Fosen is proud to be able to contribute important aviation engineering expertise and looks forward to a long-term and good collaboration, says Therese M Eidsaune, Principal and Accountable Manager at the school.

The proximity to the Ørland Air Base is important for the school, which has a unique student offering that includes a DA-20 JetFalcon, a Sea King helicopter and an F-16 fighter jet. The school also has extensive cooperation with 132 Air Wing at Ørlandet and offers school places for military personnel who need additional aviation technical expertise.

Kongsberg Aviation Maintenance Services performs maintenance on aircraft and helicopters and is an important contributor to the Air Force's ability to patrol and protect Norwegian airspace. The company is owned 50.1% by Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and 49.9% by Finnish Patria.
