Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace is experiencing a fast-growing order backlog and a growing need for production managers to ensure efficient, high-quality and competitive production processes.
The company is collaborating with USN to establish an education programme in production management, in addition to contributing with a new professorship at USN that will develop and strengthen education in the field. USN is responsible for the academic content and implementation of the study program.
Executive Operations Management (EOM)
USN and KONGSBERG are establishing a one-year study program in production management, called Executive Operations Management (EOM), aimed at skilled workers, engineers and others with relevant experience who want leadership development within manufacturing and production. The programme begins in the fall of 2025.
The study will be conducted part-time and arrangements will be made for students to combine work and studies at the same time. Students from all over the country can participate and there will be meetings at the historic building, Bergseminaret, in the center of Kongsberg. Over time, the ambition is to further develop the one-year study program into full bachelor's or master's degrees in production management, as part of USN's study portfolio.
The study program will cover key topics such as production management, production technology, quality management, Lean, digitalization and financial management. The program will be open to all qualified applicants, and not targeted at individual industries.
Professorship
A new professorship will also be established at USN, funded by KONGSBERG. The professorship will promote research, teaching and innovation (R&D) activities in production management at USN. The incoming professor will be responsible for professional development and teaching in the EOM program, building an R&D portfolio in collaboration with KONGSBERG, and publishing research and active participation in industrial forums.
