K-Sim® Cargo SCCII Suezmax Crude Carrier

The K-Sim Cargo - SCC-II simulator model is based on a real Suezmax crude carrier with 12 cargo tanks and 2 slop tanks with the actual specifications and performance data of the vessel.

Realistic Cargo Handling Training

The K-Sim Cargo – SCC-II simulator model is based on a real Suezmax crude oil tanker, featuring 12 cargo tanks and 2 slop tanks. It reflects the vessel’s actual specifications and performance data. This model allows students and ship officers to carry out integrated, real-time training exercises in liquid cargo handling operations, providing hands-on experience in a safe and controlled environment.

Model Description

The chemical carrier model is based on a real ship and is designed to represent a wide range of chemical carriers, including tank types 1, 2, and 3. It features 37 tanks, each equipped with fixed submerged pumps, separate lines, and manifolds. Additionally, the model includes an inert gas generator, a bank of N2 bottles, and 20 pre-configured cargo types, with the option for users to input 10 custom cargoes. Tank atmosphere data is continuously monitored, and while no chemical reactions occur between cargoes, some may solidify.

STCW Requirements

The LNG-M model meets the STCW requirements for sections A-II/1, A-II/2, A-II/3, A-III/1, A-III/2, and A-V/1, which cover:

  • Safe loading and planning
  • Cargo care during the voyage and unloading
  • Trim, stability, and stress management to maintain seaworthiness

DNV GL Certification

This model is certified and approved according to DNV’s Standard for Certification of Maritime Simulator Systems ST-033.

Training levels

The simulator solution can be provided both as a desktop system for classroom training and as a full mission system. A BigView 3D interactive mimic with the 3D pop-up display is also available for enhanced familiarization of the cargo operations.

This simulator is designed to support the following training levels:

  • Junior officers – Basic cargo operations
  • Senior officers – Full cargo operations including loading, discharging, cooling down and venting
  • Senior officers and captains – Advanced cargo-handling operations

Training goals

The main goal of this simulator model is to give students a full understanding of cargo-handling operations. Specific training goals include:

  • Using the Integrated Automation System (IAS), including alarm handling, trend analysis, remote valves and pumps, and tank monitoring
  • Handling shore tanks
  • Cargo system 1: cargo pumps with vacuum separators, cargo eductors, stripping pump, and cleaning heater
  • Cargo system 2: bottom lines with valves; cargo and slop tanks with ullage, pressure, average and layer-specific temperatures, heating coils and PV valves
  • Understanding deck lines and cargo pumps
  • Using the cargo cleaning system with heater
  • Operating the ODME (Oil Discharge Monitoring Equipment)
  • Using the inert gas system and distribution network
  • Operating the ballast system, including lines, tanks, two pumps and an ejector
  • Working with the Automatic Unloading System (AUS)
  • Responding to high and high-high level alarms
  • Understanding intact stability
  • Monitoring longitudinal strength, bending moments and shear forces
  • Using the K-Load loading calculator
  • Viewing and monitoring operations via CCTV
  • Using Big View and 3D Deck View tools
