About the Role:

As part of our Customer Support, Service & Technical Support team, the Service Engineer will provide professional, flexible, and customer-focused support across Kongsberg Discovery, SEATEX, and Ocean Technologies divisions. This role is essential in liaising between our main office and clients across Oceania, and occasionally, other global regions. Your responsibilities will cover the full lifecycle of product support, from pre-commissioning and commissioning to maintenance and service operations of Kongsberg’s underwater product range. You may also be involved in project planning, mobilization, operation, and demobilization phases.

The role will also provide resource augmentation to the Rental & Workshop team as required.


Key Responsibilities:

• Focus on customer support, commissioning, and service on assigned Kongsberg Discovery product range.
• Technical manning on desk / mobile device for remote support as require by Kongsberg Global Customer Support world-wide framework.
• Maintain good relationship with existing clients.
• Proper preparation and execution of assigned work  
• Responsible for generation of service reports, update drawings, cable information database etc
• Ensure customers’ satisfaction and quality of services.
• Ensure performance is always met.
• Pre and post work administration
• Commissioning, Service, and repair of Kongsberg supplied Systems.
• Workshop test and technical preparations
• Liaison between customers and main office on all aspects of pre-commissioning/ commissioning, maintenance, and operation of the systems
• Position will cover Oceania, and possibly South-East Asia and other parts of the world.
• Required to undertake ad-hoc duties which may be assigned from time-to-time.

About You:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. Equivalent trade qualifications and relevant experience will also be considered.

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of experience in a customer-facing role.
  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on technical experience with underwater acoustics systems.
  • Experience with underwater survey systems and positioning systems is essential.
  • Familiarity with Long Base Line (LBL) or Hydro-acoustic Aided Inertial Navigation systems is preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize in a demanding environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (English).
  • Professional customer etiquette and a proactive, customer-focused attitude.
  • Willingness to work outside of regular office hours when required.
  • Proficiency in basic MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of survey software is preferred.
  • Good understanding of computer network systems and topology.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a customer-oriented mindset.
  • A strong team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on short notice.
  • Full working rights in Australia — you must hold Permanent Residency or Australian Citizenship.
