Quality Manager

Kongsberg Maritime Finland is operating in Rauma, Kokkola and Turku. In Finland, the focus is on designing, manufacturing, and marketing Azimuth Thrusters, Waterjets, and Deck Machinery. In addition, we are also world leaders in designing new solutions for maritime industry, such as technology for autonomous vessels.

We are now looking for a Quality Manager to join our Quality & Business Improvement Department within Thruster Systems business to lead quality management at our Rauma site in Finland. You will lead the team of local quality experts and have a key role in ensuring our products and operations meet the expectations of our customers and comply with industry standards and requirements.

Your primary responsibility is to develop and coordinate the implementation of quality strategy supporting the achievement of our business goals and objectives. Continuous improvement of our operations, quality performance and customer satisfaction are at the core of what you do.

You will work closely with various internal stakeholders at all levels – both locally and wider within Kongsberg. You will also work with our customers, partners and external certification bodies. Key part of your work is to lead and manage the quality team, providing guidance, coaching and support.

Key responsibilities

  • Leading and managing the work of the team of quality engineers and inspectors to achieve team, functional and individual objectives
  • Development and execution of quality strategy and annual plans supporting business goals and objectives. Reporting performance on quality to management.
  • Ensure quality management in accordance with Kongsberg Management System and ISO 9001 standard. Development and execution of internal audit programme.
  • Management and continuous improvement of quality control processes, tools and capabilities
  • Maintain quality governance structure and communication to support organizational awareness on quality matters and taking actions on identified opportunities or issues effectively
  • Support the local organization in all matters pertaining to quality using own subject matter expertise and network of quality and other professionals within the functional organization

Key qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in relevant field, such as engineering or business
  • Experience working in quality or related field
  • Strong leadership and management skills; experience as line manager
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 standard
  • Knowledge of maritime industry and regulations are considered as advantage.
  • Auditor experience, preferably certified Lead Auditor
  • Fluent English and Finnish. Other languages are considered as advantage.
