Product Manager Drives & Rotating Machinery

An exciting opportunity has arisen as Product Manager Drives and Rotating Machinery, reporting to the director for Drives and Rotating Machinery in the Integration & Energy division in Kongsberg Maritime. In this role, you will be a part of the Drives & Rotating leadership team delivering product standards and lifecycle ownership. You will be responsible for a team of 6 engineers.

The Integration & Energy (I&E) division in Kongsberg Maritime is responsible for strengthening our position in the energy transition as a leading integrator of maritime solutions.

Energy is defined as an area of growth in our Company, and the Energy Business unit within I&E shall make this happen. We are now strengthening the product lifecycle focus with this new position put a clear focus on product profitability throughout the product life cycle from product idea to service phase. The Drives & Rotating team has an end to end responsibility from sales to service and the product management function is vital to enable the right focus throughout the complete product life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the product management team with product advisors and tools responsible persons
  • Manage new products launch and life cycle from phase-in to phase-out. Coordinates and supervises the product road map. Defines and oversees recovery plans as necessary.
  • Responsible for the product profitability during the entire life cycle
  • Provide and maintain product pricing. Work to continuously improve the product competitiveness throughout the life cycle
  • Initiate and monitor product development projects
  • Lead market intelligence analysis. Understand and define current market segmentation and related product/system/service positioning. Identify potential gaps in the portfolio, both against competition and new market opportunities.
  • Initiate and drive cross functional and cross-organizational product innovation teams, monitor development of all standards, class rules and market trends. Provide inputs to the product development team (R& D) for patent screening process and intellectual property rights protection

 

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor or master of science in relevant field
  • Documented experience from people leadership as line manager, project manager or team leader
  • Experience from product management work is a benefit
  • Good knowledge about electrical drives and rotating equipment in marine, offshore or land based industry
  • Good knowledge about relevant standards and class rules
  • Experience from managing R&D projects
  • Understanding of fund raising and budget processes

 

This employment may require security clearance by the Norwegian National Security Authority, clearance through Civil Aviation Authority or a background check.
