K-Sim® Engine Diesel Electric Cruise Vessel DE22-III
The K-Sim Engine Diesel Electric Cruise Vessel DE 22-III model is based on a large modern cruise vessel, equipped with two synchronous propulsion motors, each rated at 14 MW.
K-Sim® Engine Diesel Electric Cruise Vessel DE22-III
Each propulsion motor features two separate three-phase windings, enabling flexible “half-motor” operation for improved redundancy and operational efficiency. The vessel is fitted with two directly coupled fixed-pitch propellers, providing reliable and efficient propulsion performance.
Model
The electrical power plant is based on a 6.6 kV system, powered by four medium-speed diesel generators, each rated at 13.9 MVA. In addition, the vessel is equipped with two 440 V high-speed diesel emergency generators, each rated at 750 kVA.
The control and automation systems include advanced power management, pump control, and propulsion control systems. A comprehensive steam plant is also modeled, featuring two large oil-fired boilers and an integrated feed water system.
Operator panels are available both in the control room and on the bridge, including steering panels, providing a realistic training environment.
Compliant with industry requirements
Kongsberg Maritime simulator models exceed the requirements outlined in the STCW Convention, Regulation I/12, and comply with DNV GL’s standard DNVGL-ST-0033 for Maritime Simulator Systems.
Training levels
The K-Sim Engine Diesel Electric Cruise Vessel DE 22-III model is a comprehensive training tool designed to support both basic and advanced training for marine engineers.
Training objectives include:
-
Junior engineers: Training in basic engine room operations, focusing on fundamental skills and systems.
-
Senior engineers: Instruction in emergency operations and troubleshooting techniques for effective decision-making under pressure.
-
Senior and chief engineers: Advanced training in optimal operation, fuel economy, and energy conservation, enabling efficient plant management and resource utilization.
The training is delivered through controlled simulations that provide a realistic engine room environment, enhancing the understanding of total plant operations and ensuring practical, hands-on learning experiences.
