Meet Marthe, the Project Manager for Reach Remote
In the fast-evolving maritime industry, project managers play a crucial role in driving innovation and leading impactful initiatives. Marthe Kristine Sand, the project manager for the Reach Remote project at Kongsberg Maritime highlights the influence and impact a project manager can have.
Leading the Reach Remote Project
Marthe joined Kongsberg Maritime 4.5 years ago. With a background in physics and mathematics and extensive experience as a project manager, she brings a unique blend of expertise, curiosity, and passion for technology to her role. As the project manager for the Reach Remote project, she leads her team in developing a 24-meter-long uncrewed vessel for offshore inspections and surveys, a pioneering project that is set to transform offshore operations. Representing a step-change in increasing efficiency and reducing emissions with no people onboard from day one.
The Reach Remote project exemplifies a seamless integration of technologies and competencies and is packed with cutting-edge KONGSBERG technology.
"As a project manager, I have the privilege of navigating a role that offers both significant responsibility and a high degree of flexibility," she says. This autonomy allows her to focus on solving tasks to the best of her ability and collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure they reach their common goals. For Marthe, collaboration is a crucial aspect of her role. “Leading a team that integrates diverse technologies and includes highly skilled members from various disciplines is incredibly exciting. This diversity makes my position unique,” she shares. Managing such a complex project is both challenging and rewarding. "I work closely with internal teams and external partners, including the yard and customer to ensure a successful project delivery and good collaboration across the teams."

"Each day brings new challenges, and one of the most rewarding aspects of my job is the opportunity to see a project through from start to finish, being hands-on in every aspect. We began with a FEED study and progressed to a construction contract for the delivery of two vessels," Marthe explains. She adds that it is especially gratifying to witness the results of their hard work after months of dedicated effort. One of the most memorable moments in this project was witnessing the Reach vessel on its first sea trial without any people onboard. "It was an emotional moment for many of us," she recalls. "It marked an important milestone both for the project and for the maritime industry”.
