Norcontrol IT will supply the shore-based software infrastructure for the first AIS Network for East Malaysia. The contract is through Norcontrol IT's teaming partner, Tideland Signal Pte Ltd (subsidiary of Tideland Signal Corp), whose local agent Jinora Corporation secured the contract. The prime contractor, Telekom Malaysia will oversee all communication links.
The AIS Shore infrastructure will consist of 5 Shore Stations and one AIS Information Management centre. Norcontrol IT's AIS network infrastucture software is responsible for connecting all areas of the network and providing fast, secure and reliable transport of data. The remote location of the Shore Stations requires extra redundancy, taken care of by two separate AIS Base Stations, linked to the network within the software infrastructure.
Norcontrol IT recently released its 3rd generation of AIS network infrastructure software, which enables increased data handling efficiency and greater functionality at the management and local operator level. This software will ensure the reliability and flexibility of the AIS infrastructure in East Malaysia.
