Share:Important air defence contract with the USA

14.10.2003

Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) has signed a contract with Raytheon (USA) for the development of the next generation's Common Aviation Command and Control System (CAC2S) to the U.S. Marine Corps.

Raytheon has won a large development contract for this system, and will manage a team consisting of KONGSBERG, Gallium (Canada), General Dynamics (USA) and Sensis Corporation (USA). KONGSBERG's provisional share has a framework of about MNOK 57, but a future increase can be expected. A system production contract is expected in 2007.

- This is a very important milestone for our international air defence efforts, says KDA Vice President Odd Kyllingmark. - After several success contracts the last few years in countries such as Norway, Greece, Spain and Turkey, there is no doubt that a breakthrough in the American market will be of great importance for KONGSBERG's continued air defence efforts.

This system will be the Marine Corps' next generation's command, control- and decision-making tool. It will consolidate today's systems, which support the Marine Corps' five areas of planning, air fight, air defence, coordination of helicopter and airplane activity, as well as air traffic control.
