The Minister of Trade and Industry, Ansgar Gabrielsen, showed great involvement and interest during a three hour long visit at Kongsberg Maritime in Horten, September 10th. Gabrielsen and his escort of eight advisors and officials were given a thorough introduction of Kongsberg Maritime's technological areas, followed by a conducted tour focused on Simrad's sonar- and echosounder technology.
The visit was concluded with a trip on board M/K Simrad Echo on the water outside Horten, where the Minister showed great insight in the use of Simrad equipment. - We had a good dialogue with both the Minister and his escorts. We were able to communicate the importance of developing a maritime cluster in Norway, as well as the importance of focusing on laying the conditions for knowledge based Norwegian industry through Norwegian trade and industry politics, says President of Kongsberg Maritime, Torfinn Kildal.
