Kongsberg Simrad, Kongsberg`s offshore company, has landed a contract to supply safety and automation systems (SAS) for Statoil's field development project on the Kristin field. Valued at about MNOK 50, the contract covers delivery of the safety systems, and process and marine control systems for the Kristin platform to be built by Aker Stord. Kongsberg Simrad landed the contract against competition from major global players.
Statoil also decided to exercise an option that includes Kongsberg Simrad's dynamic process simulator ASSETT.
In addition, Kongsberg Simrad has signed a three-year framework agreement with Statoil, carrying options for two plus two more years. The framework agreement guarantees Kongsberg Simrad access to tender bids for Statoil's upcoming national and identified international projects.
"Landing the Kristin contract and the SAS framework agreement consolidate Kongsberg Simrad's strategic position in the floating production of oil and gas", remarks President Steinar Aabelvik of Kongsberg Simrad.
"Our goal is to lead the world market in automated solutions for floating production. The contracts with BP in Houston for the Crazy Horse platform and Statoil's Kristin platform indicate that we are on the right track. Over the past year, Kongsberg Simrad has reviewed its system solutions with a view to technology and cost-efficiency. We have noted that the market response to this was favourable at the national as well as the international level", concludes Aabelvik.
