104 MNOK (18,5 MUSD) satellite contract

Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) is awarded a contract to provide ground station services to Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) of Bangalore India.

The contract is a frame contract covering data reception and dissemination services for the fleet of Indian satellites. ISRO is operating a large number of polar orbiting satellites used for resource monitoring.

KSAT will be using the company’s ground stations in Svalbard, Norway and in Antarctica, to provide services to ISRO. In addition, the company’s ground station in other locations may also be utilized. The service will be operated from the Tromsø Network Operation Center (TNOC) located in the KSAT main office, in Tromsø Norway. The contract is strengthening the company’s position as the world leading provider of services to satellite owners and operators. The contract is for six years of operation including a three years option. The contract value is approximate MNOK 104 (18.5 MUSD).

KSAT is a commercial satellite center owned 50 percent by KONGSBERG and 50 percent by the Department of Trade and Industry through the Norwegian Space Centre Property. KSAT is situated in Tromsø, Norway with ground stations in Tromsø, Svalbard, Grimstad, Dubai, South Africa, Singapore, Mauritius and the Antarctic. KSAT is immaculately located for both TT&C (Telemetry Tracking & Control), launch support, as well as data reception and near real time Earth Observation services.
