Kongsberg Maritime successfully installs diver detection system in the UAE

Kongsberg Maritime has successfully installed an integrated Diver Detection System in the United Arab Emirates. The system was installed in partnership with the UK Security firm, Westminster International. The location, a High-Value Seaside resort, remains classified.

Track and process underwater threats
The SM 2000 Underwater Surveillance System is manufactured by Kongsberg Mesotech Ltd, Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada. The system is designed to track and process underwater threats in order to provide alarms for operators to act on. The system uses Sonar to detect and differentiate between divers and other targets such as marine life and debris.

In excess of 1000 meters
"In partnership with Westminster, using our SM2000 Sonar and their Enforcer Underwater Acoustic Marine Defense System, we were able to detect, alert and, if needed, force divers to the surface at ranges in excess of 1000 meters", says Eric Levitt, Project Manager Underwater Security.

Kongsberg Maritime is a world leader in the maritime industry with ca. 2000 employees in 20 countries. Kongsberg Maritime also produces Autonomous Underwater Vehicles, Underwater Navigation Systems, Underwater Tracking systems, and high resolution Underwater Mapping Systems.
