Contract with Statoil

Statoil has awarded Kongsberg Maritime a contract valued at approx. MNOK 70 for upgrading the process control systems for oil and gas production on Statfjord A, B and C, and for the delivery of a process simulator.

The upgrading of the systems for process control and data acquisition (PCDA) and process shut down (PSD) involves complete replacement of all system components. The upgrade will take place while the control system is in operation, meaning the change-over to the upgraded system can take place during a week's production shutdown on each of the three platforms in mid-2006.

The process simulator will be used for process studies, verification of the upgrade using the PCDA systems, and optimisation. After the upgrade, the Statfjord platforms will be well equipped to satisfy future challenges associated with the Late Phase project, which will entail a crossover from oil to gas production.

The Statfjord contract is a result of long-term cooperation between Statoil and Kongsberg Maritime. It also encompasses operations, maintenance and modifications on Statoil's installations on Heidrun, Norne, Åsgard A and B, and Kristin.

"Given the new development projects and modifications, the Norwegian oil and the gas market is an important target area for Kongsberg Maritime. The Statfjord contract is one of a number of similar assignments we've completed on other Statoil installations. We have signed a framework contract for maintenance and operations for new projects with Statoil", comments Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing Tor Erik Sørensen of Kongsberg Maritime.
