SD9500

Dipping sonar for harbour and platform protection

Multi-purpose surveillance sonar with special capabilities to detect small and weak targets

The SD9500 is a Multi-Purpose Dipping Sonar with special capabilities to detect small and weak targets like divers, UVVs, diver delivery vehicles, midget subs. Typical applications for this sonar will be protection of harbours and protecting platforms or vessels when stationary in harbour or at open sea. The wet end of the sonar (the sonar head) is lowered over the railing by use of an electric winch system. The sonar head is connected to the top-side Sonar Processing Unit (SPU) via a hybrid cable, and it can be lowered to a depth of at least 150m.

Fitted for surveillance in shallow waters

The SD9500 is a dipping sonar with 360° coverage designed to meet challenging conditions of shallow and confined waters. Maximum dipping depth is 150m.
The compact size and the dipping feature make the sonar specifically fitted for surveillance and applications where it can be deployed from the vessel, floating base, or a fixed structure.

Launch & Recovery System

The Launch & Recovery System (LARS) can be adapted to the vessel/platform from case to case. A simple boom solution with manual handling or a more advanced LARS with automatic control can be offered.

Detection of weak targets

Wide bandwidth and excellent resolution combined with high receiving sensitivity makes this sonar suitable for detection of weak targets like divers, swimmer delivery vehicles, AUVs and underwater drones.

Remote operation

Remote operation via radio link from Mother Platform or from On-shore station can be offered. Needed when sonar is installed on an unmanned platform. All sonar functions, including launch and recovery of the dipping Sonar-head can be remotely controlled from remote control station.
