Simrad TV80

Gear monitoring software

The Simrad TV80 gear monitoring software is the latest and most complete solution to show you all the information about your current fishing operation.

Stay updated with important information from your fishing gear

The Simrad TV80's flexible and intuitive design allows you to detect any changes or trends in the relevant data from the fishing gear and catch monitoring sensors. A quick look at the screen is enough.

The TV80 gear monitoring software offers several different presentation modes for data visualisation. With a large display, all modes can be viewed simultaneously, or with a dual-screen configuration for more information handling. The presentation of sensor data is organised in different views, allowing a maximum of four views simultaneously. What's more, these views can be customised according to operational requirements or personal preferences, showcasing the TV80's adaptability.

Acoustic noise can challenge the quality of the acoustic communication link between the wireless gear monitoring sensors and the receiver. When noise appears in the same frequency range as the sensors are using for their communication, the resulting information may be unstable or unreadable. The TV80 offers a spectrum analyser that shows you the signals from each hydrophone. The Spectrum dialogue box graph provides information about the background noise and signal strength in the selected frequency band. This information lets you identify noise and find the "cleanest" frequencies.

Online simulators

The Simrad PX System

The Simrad PX system consists of the Simrad TV80 Gear Monitoring Software, a computer, a receiver, one or two hydrophones and your selected number of wireless gear monitoring sensors mounted on the fishing gear.

The PX system offers a multitude of measurements that allow you to monitor your fishing operations closely.

Accurate depth measurements: Monitor your trawl or purse seine's exact depth and sink rate. Place the sensor behind the headrope on a trawl or on the footrope of a purse seine to gain vital insights for optimal net control.

Essential geometry and spread measurements: Ensure the perfect alignment of your trawl, whether using a pelagic or bottom trawl, single, twin, or triple trawl. Our sensors, positioned behind the headrope and in trawl doors, provide crucial geometry and spread data. This information is invaluable, even with automatic winch control systems or steerable trawl doors, offering a clear picture of your trawl's shape in the water. If you prefer manually adjusting the warp lengths, use our geometry measurements to guide you to perfection. The data from the sensors will reveal any rigging issues instantly.

Precise height measurement: Use our accurate measurements to keep your gear off the bottom. Mounted in the middle of a trawl door or vertically on the footrope of a purse seine, our height sensors inform you of the remaining height, ensuring your gear stays clear of the seabed. Dual height sensors offer critical data on trawl opening and bottom distance simultaneously.

Real-time roll and pitch angle values: With real-time roll and pitch angle measurements, you can gain superior control over your trawl doors and gear. The gear monitoring sensors provide valuable insights into the trawl's behaviour, indicating whether the doors are leaning inwards, outwards, upwards, or downwards.

Your "eye" at the cod-end: With our advanced sensors, you can easily monitor your trawl's filling rate. Whether using a new trawl design to reduce flow or a traditional type, the Simrad miniCatch sensor is the smallest and lightest on the market. Enjoy flexible pull direction options with both side-pull and back-pull capabilities.

Real-time echogram at any depth: Experience real-time echogram information up to 1000 meters deep with the PX TrawlEye sensor. Depending on your water depth, you can choose an operation with 200 kHz or 70 kHz. Transmitting wirelessly to your boat, the PX TrawlEye offers another "eye" on your trawl. Place it behind the headrope or on the cod end to monitor everything entering the net.

Monitor the water flow to control trawl behaviour perfectly: Gain vital insights into the water current speed entering your trawl opening. Combine the geometry and spread measurements with the speed of the water flow to complete the puzzle for perfect trawl control.
