Simrad PxPos

The Simrad PxPos is a wireless multifunction gear monitoring sensor. We have designed it to improve control and efficiency in trawling. Monitoring the position of the trawl and what is happening in and around it can help you avoid wrecks and obstacles on the seabed when fishing.

The Simrad PxPos sensor is more than just a tool, it's the key to unlocking effective, profitable, and responsible fishing. With its ability to provide crucial information, it can significantly enhance your fishing operations. As an upgraded version of the old Simrad ITI sensors, it seamlessly integrates into your existing setup, offering a host of benefits.

The PxPos sensor uses 70 kHz for spread measurements, a significant difference from the ITI sensors, which use 200 kHz. To set up your PxPos sensor as an ITI Spread, simply replace your ITI Distance / Spread and your ITI Remote sensors with a PxPos. It's that straightforward.

The sensor lid and the position on the trawl determine the type of measurements the PxPos can make. Currently, you can set up the PxPos sensor as any of the following sensor types:

• Depth
• Depth/Temperature
• Height
• Remote
• Spread
• Depth/Temperature Combi and Remote

This sensor is a part of the Simrad TP System.

You need an ITI installation or a new Simrad TP90 Gear Monitoring Positioning Transceiver to communicate with the sensor. You also need one or more transducers. The TP90 transceiver interrogates the sensor and uses its response to measure its bearing and slant range.

To use the PxPos sensors with a TP90 transceiver, you also need a high-performance computer running the TV80 Gear Monitoring software with a Trawl Positioning license.

Each sensor has a fixed communication channel and a pre-established set of measurements it can make. Before using a sensor for the first time, you must configure it to fit your system and requirements. When configuration is required, use the PX Configurator cable to connect the sensor to a computer running the TV80 or Simrad PX Configurator programs.
