Considerable effort is being done worldwide to ensure that data is being collected to help the global effort to collect seabed and watercolumn data. While any survey usually has a mission to secure a certain type of data, there is often an opportunity to collect data from other sonar systems at the same time.
This presentation discusses methodology, problems and some possible solutions for acquiring multiple datasets from multiple sonars with minimum sacrifice to the mission dataset. By identifying what sonars can run independently of each other and which needs to be synchronised to not disturb each other, more data can be acquired.
