Technical Product Manager Cranes

An exciting opportunity has arisen as Technical Product Manager Cranes within Offshore and Special Purpose, Propulsion & Handling division. In this role you will be managing our portfolio of cranes and related products and collaborating with our partners and suppliers for larger integrated system packages. Our team develops, delivers and maintain complex winch and handling systems for a broad range of vessels within the offshore market. With us you will contribute to developing new and exciting products and be part of a highly skilled team. We are looking for candidates who are motivated and passionate about being at in the forefront of technology development in the industry.


The position is in our Handling business area which owns, develops and delivers world class handling solutions, with focus on system solutions and integration driving increased efficiency in our customers' operations. The area is responsible for product and technology development, supply chain operations and project delivery for all Kongsberg Maritime’s winches and handling solutions.

Key accountabilities

  • Be the technical authority for the product area on behalf of the product throughout its life cycle.
  • Manage the portfolio of cranes and related products, and lead the development of these in their intended markets
  • Lead the collaboration with our partners and suppliers in both design activities and developing crane packages for our customers.
  • Actively participate in the design, development, and implementation of systems and products.
  • Assess and address technical/product risks.
  • Translate customer and business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Analyze market needs and technologies and come up with new ways to improve the company’s products.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Degree in engineering or similar.
  • Experience working with product management and customer interaction.
  • Experience with cranes within maritime industry and/or relevant experience from offshore marine operations.

It is also an advantage if you have:

  • Competence in mechanical 3D-design.
  • Knowledge of structural calculation.
  • Experience with technical and people management.

Work location
Ålesund, Brattvåg or Hjørungavåg, part time hybrid working is an option. Other locations may be considered for the right candidate.
