Senior Service Engineer (P&H)

About the role:

Provide specialised propulsion equipment repair and overhaul technical support & assistance to service and sales team relating to propulsion products.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the removal, repair/overhaul, and re-installation of equipment onto vessels.
  • Perform repair work both in the workshop and on-site as required.
  • Direct a team of Service Technicians and/or subcontractors.
  • Oversee repair and maintenance procedures.
  • Write reports in line with factory recommendations and classification society requirements.
  • Assist in developing support capabilities with local contractors for all aspects of service work.
  • Identify and respond to on-site and workshop HS&E issues.
  • Liaise with key customer account representatives.
  • Perform administrative duties, including report writing, preparing quotations, client liaison meetings, and data entry into the Kongsberg Maritime system.
  • Participate in training on software, communications, and necessary tools for the job. Share specific product knowledge and experiences with relevant staff members.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demonstrate determination to deliver exemplary service to customers.
  • Complete work in accordance with all applicable legal and company procedures.
  • Work within a Defence maritime environment as required.

About you:

Qualification

  • A degree in engineering is desirable but not essential.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role working with ship propulsion and/or a Mechanic trade certificate.

Skills

  • Self-motivated with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent engineering and technical knowledge to support customer technical enquiries and interaction with Principal’s technical staff.
  • Ability to train, communicate, and develop staff within the area of responsibility.
  • Effective liaison capabilities with Customer Technical & Logistics staff and Vessel Engineering Staff.
  • Ability to prepare standard reports.
  • Effective organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks appropriately.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of Kongsberg Maritime operations.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Outgoing, sociable, and determined.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Sound knowledge of Kongsberg propulsion products (preferred).
  • Experience with propulsion and/or steering gear and stabilization equipment (preferred)
