Senior Mechanical Engineer
Global Customer Support (GCS) is a division responsible for Kongsberg Maritimes services, upgrades and support in the aftermarket. GCS Thrusters is a business unit in Global Customer Support, handling the aftermarket of KM’s Thrusters portfolio.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mechanical Engineer, reporting to the Team Leader, Engineering. In this role, you will be a key part of the GCS Thrusters Technical Support and Engineering team in Ulsteinvik, Norway. Our team delivers design solutions, documentation, and technical support to the business. You will have a close cooperation with global stakeholders within GCS.
As our Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will demonstrate a structured approach to managing tasks, prioritizing and executing them efficiently in a dynamic work environment. You will oversee deliverables for refit and retrofit projects, develop upgrade packages for equipment in the sailing fleet, and provide advanced technical sales support.

Responsibilities
- Design and validate design solutions to their requirements and safety levels.
- Take technical responsibility for deliverables in assigned projects.
- Provide advanced technical sales support across teams and departments.
- Offer expert technical support within the propulsion product portfolio.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Mentor and guide mechanical engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- Significant experience in the maritime industry is highly beneficial.
- Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter or equivalent PLM and CAD software.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and Norwegian.
- Ability to dynamically respond to evolving objectives and emerging opportunities while working in coordination with a multidisciplinary, energetic team of engineers.
