Product Advisor / Product Engineer - Energy Storage

As a Product Advisor / Product Engineer, you will be working in the Energy Storage department and be a part of the development team. You will be involved in development and testing of the different components that makes a marine energy storage system while working closely with other Kongsberg Energy disciplines as well. As a member of the Energy Storage team you will be in the core of the energy conversion technology enabling the ongoing green shift in the maritime industry.

Responsibilities

  • Product Expertise in Battery Technology: Serve as the subject matter expert on battery technology, focusing on the integration of batteries into marine applications.
  • Battery Sizing and Scaling: Oversee the accurate sizing and scaling of battery installations, tailoring solutions to the specific energy demands and operational requirements of each marine application.
  • Development and Engineering of Energy Storage Systems: Design, development, and engineering of cutting-edge energy storage systems, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of batteries into complex marine power systems.
  • Technical Support for In-Operation Products: Provide expert technical support for energy storage products already in operation. This includes troubleshooting and ensuring that any issues are promptly addressed.
  • Preparation of Technical Specifications: Collaborate with Delivery/project teams to prepare detailed technical specifications and documentation for battery and energy storage system projects.
  • Sales Support: Collaborate with the sales team to provide technical expertise and support during the sales process. This may include participating in client meetings, delivering technical concept drawings, calculations, technical presentations, and providing detailed product information.

Some travel may be expected in this role.

Qualifications and experience

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in related fields. Relevant experience may compensate for the lack of a formal degree.
  • Experience in Energy Storage and battery technology and its integration within marine applications.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, including classification rules and flag state regulations.
  • Familiarity with Battery Management Systems (BMS) and battery control technologies.
  • Fluent communication skills in both Norwegian and English.
  • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and ERP systems is an advantage.
