Modern Apprentice (Assembly Fitter)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Commercial Marine business for the key role of Modern Apprentice based at our Dalgety Bay site in Dunfermline.  On site we manufacture stabiliser and steering gear systems for both commercial and naval customers as well as having the capability to service all commercial marine equipment in the UK. The successful candidate will undertake a broad training program within the operations team including, mechanical assembly, inspection, test and spend time in other areas of the business gaining an understanding of how the business operates. The modern apprenticeship will consist of the completion of an SVQ level 2 and a National Certificate in the first year at Fife College, continuing on to do an SVQ level 3 in the workplace over the following 2.5 years. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Work as part of a team to assemble Kongsberg equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and build procedures.
  • Working on hydraulic systems preparing equipment for testing with customer.
  • Problem solving as required to overcome manufacturing challenges.
  • Support the service team in the repair and overhaul of Kongsberg equipment in the workshop.
  • Work with the leadership team to manage HSE and drive continuous improvement.

Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

  • National 5s, to include English & Maths, a Science/Technical subject would also be beneficial

  • NC or a relevant Engineering or Educational Qualification
  • Valid EU Passport or other current permission to work in the UK
