Global Category Manager - Logistics

As a Global Category Manager, your primary goal is to lead and oversee the strategic procurement activities within specific global product or service categories. You will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies that align with the organization’s overall objectives, optimizing supplier relationships, driving cost efficiencies, and ensuring product or service quality. Close collaboration with all relevant stakeholders is required to successfully complete sourcing projects according to KM sourcing process.

Responsibilities: 

  • Establishing strong relationships with internal business stakeholders (BA’s, divisions, and departments); building a strong understanding of strategic business direction, requirements, and priorities across assigned suppliers and/or spend categories. 
  • Developing global sourcing strategies to deliver on our business objectives. 
  • Managing the fundamentals of sourcing and supplier engagement activities including RFx, spend development analysis, contract analysis, bid evaluation, negotiations, and supplier consolidation. 
  • Working with business and product leaders to identify and drive cost improvement, savings, and delivery improvements, focusing on total cost of ownership. 
  • Providing guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement strategies; maintaining procurement ethics in accordance with KONGSBERG GROUP’s global policies. 
  • Preparing and hold business reviews with stakeholders to review vendor performance, future opportunities, and/or challenges.
  • Main responsible for the use of Jaggaer S2P (Source to Pay) for the category, especially within the use of the eProcurement, sourcing, contracts, and supplier management module.
  • Link with the different finance teams to understand and advice on the most efficient invoice handling within the category.
  • Ownership of the Logistics category supplier sustainability requirements and align with the Central Logistics Team regarding reporting from suppliers (ensure that the supplier contracts are updated with sustainability requirements and reporting formats).
  • Market analysis and Insights; understand market dynamics, consumer behaviour, and competitive landscapes.
  • Financial acumen and cost lever understanding. Awareness of key financial metrics, cost structures, and pricing strategies for top category suppliers.
  • Be a strong representative of the Indirect Procurement Team towards all BAs in the Group.
  • Supplier management responsibility for category suppliers.


 Qualifications and experience: 

  • 3-7 years’ experience in the logistics category (Sourcing, procurement, category management. Primarily transportation, warehousing, spares, packaging. Knowledge of customs is beneficial).
  • Higher education, preferably in business, supply chain management or equivalent. Business Administration/Engineering/Commercial/Management Degree.
  • Solid commercial and business mindset.
  • Ability to build and deploy business strategies and work across international boundaries.
  • Strong, proven, negotiation skills and experience in cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and internationally.
  • Excellent English language capability (both spoken and in writing).
  • Experience within the supply chain process, from planning to shipment.
  • In-depth experience in procurement practices (category management, benchmarking, RFX, reverse auction, contracting, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Commercial mindset with preferably knowledge of change management in a complex organization.
  • Experience and/or willingness to learn the best possible efficient use of our Jaggaer S2P tool (Source to Pay).
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Excel. PBI experience beneficial.

  • Understand the geopolitical trends and risks and ensure findings to be included in the category strategy.
  • Work well with key suppliers to track improvement projects and establish an efficient reporting structure to secure savings.
  • Work autonomously and proactively towards our team goals.
  • Contribute and share knowledge within a well-functional team.

Work location
Kraków (Poland), but other KM locations in Europe can be considered for the right candidate.
This position typically involves office-based work but may require travel for supplier visits, conferences, or other relevant events.
