Finance Manager
Kongsberg Maritime is seeking a Finance Manager to support our Country Manager in Canada by performing comprehensive accounting and tax-related duties, providing monthly variance analysis, and supporting strategic financial planning. This position plays a critical role in integrating with our Americas Finance Organization, which includes finance teams in the U.S., Mexico, and Brazil, and will help establish in-country support for our Canadian operations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform essential accounting and finance tasks necessary to support business operations in Canada, including:
- Process cash applications and manage accounts payable payment approvals.
- Conduct foreign exchange (FX) currency evaluations.
- Support collections by handling cash applications, performing customer account reviews, and updating the collections module in AX.
- Set up vendors in the system and code employee reimbursements to appropriate departments through Zalaris payment journal entries.
- Oversee intercompany recharges and ensure accurate processing.
- Complete reconciliations for bank accounts, Accounts Receivable (AR), and Balance Sheet items.
- Manage the monthly close process, including provisions for bad debt, work-in-progress (WIP), goods received not invoiced (GRNI), inventory, and depreciation.
- Conduct Profit & Loss (P&L) reviews, with variance analysis by vertical and product line.
- Perform Balance Sheet and WIP reviews, ensuring accuracy and identifying any discrepancies.
- Complete month-end reporting using Hyperion Financial Management (HFM).
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, such as Reg 105, and manage tax reporting processes through Deloitte.
- Support the Country Manager by assessing and improving business processes, particularly in cost control, margin analysis, and operational efficiency.
- Recommend and establish new workflows to address process gaps and enhance operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with the regional finance teams to standardize reporting and data management across countries for consistent financial insights.
- Conduct contract reviews and support the Country Manager on various strategic initiatives as needed.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and intercompany rate setting (e.g., global hours).
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; MBA or Master’s in Accounting and or Finance preferred but not required.
- Experience: 7-10 years of relevant accounting and finance experience, with industry experience as a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical abilities with experience in variance analysis and P&L reviews.
- Communication: Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams and provide insights to non-financial stakeholders.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics AX2012, PowerBI, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Tax Knowledge: Strong understanding of Canadian tax law and compliance requirements.
